Le Guaite di Noemi Valpolicella Superiore 2014

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Le Guaite di Noemi is a small family-run business located in the highest part of the Mezzane di Sotto hills, 500 meters above sea level, between the Lessini Mountains and Lake Garda. The winery was founded in 1997 when Stefano Pizzighella decided to dedicate himself to wine, in addition to the already-started production of oil. The entire property extends over 10 hectares of vineyards; since 2016 Stefano’s daughter Noemi, who joined the company in 2010, started her label, Le Guaite di Noemi, with grapes coming from a cru of around 3 hectares. The wine is a blend of the local Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes with small additions of Oseleta and Croatina. After drying the grapes for approximately one month, and fermentation at a controlled temperature with selected yeasts, the finished wine is aged for approximately 36 months in French oak and then another 24 months in the bottle. The Valpolicella Superiore of Le Guaite di Noemi shows an intense ruby red color, with some garnet reflections. Its aromatic profile is ripe with notes of blueberries, currants, cherries, and plums, followed by hints of Mediterranean herbs and violets. On the palate, it is soft and has a good concentration of flavors. The acidity is well-balanced and the tannins are silky. The finish is long.. It is the ideal wine with pasta with sauce, roast beef, and rich winter soups.
