Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in the Douro Valley, Quinta do Vale Meão is a wine estate that produces a wide range of fortified and non-fortified wines. Purchased in 1877 by D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, until the end of the 1990s, the Quinta produced grapes for the historic company AA Ferreira S.A. In 1998, the company passed completely under the ownership and management of the Olazabal family. The estate's vineyards, mainly planted with Touriga Nacional grapes, were completely renovated in the 1980s, due to flooding in the area following the construction of a nearby dam. The vines enjoy a mix of alluvial and shale- and granite-based soils. Meandro Tinto is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Alicante Bouschet, and Baga. The grapes are harvested and vinified separately. The finished wine is aged in used French oak barrels. The wine has a dense ruby color. Its aromatic profile is intensely fruity and ripe. On the palate, it is concentrated and juicy, rich and with a strong personality. It has a good refreshing acidity and a long, fruity finish. Excellent with pork shank, and game birds.
