Enjoy now or cellar for up to 8 years. Decant before drinking. In the southern part of Piemonte, one of Italy’s premier wine regions, nestled in the Scrivia Valley is the estate of La Bollina. Famous for the production of Gavi, La Bollina works with a number of regional varieties including Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Chardonnay to name a few. The wine production is managed by Marco Roveda, with help from enologist Andrea Zampieri and agronomist Franco Fierri. The three comprise a team focused on high-quality wines that embody the unique characteristics of the terroir and grape varieties. With a highly modernized winery, La Bollina utilizes some of the newest techniques in winemaking including a micro-oxygenation system and special filtration technique that keeps the wine intact even through its final stages of production. Tavros Primitivo di Manduria is 100% Primitivo, or Zinfandel as it is known outside of the region. The nose is greeted by a bouquet of sweet ripe fruit, dark chocolate espresso beans, cinnamon rolls and shaved vanilla. A punch of tobacco and cedarwood comes through with a touch of leather. On the palate this wine shows the richness of the nose with sweet flavors balanced by its full mouthfeel. This wine is off-dry with bold tannins and soft acidity making it a great match with dinner or dessert. Enjoy with beef, lamb, and pasta dishes, or with dark chocolate for a night cap.
