Drink it now or cellar for up to 4 years. No need to decant. Serve it chilled. Nestled in the heart of Alsace, in the village of Wettolsheim, Domaine Charles Sparr is a family estate with a long winemaking tradition. Charles comes from a family of wine merchants who have been well-known in the region for nearly 400 years. In 2013, the family vineyards were joined by those of his wife Amélie Buecher. Today, the estate extends over nearly 20 hectares of organic and biodynamically cultivated vineyards. This elegant Cermant d'Alsace vintage is produced with Pinot Blanc grapes selected from various parcels with vines, of an average age of 30 years, planted on predominantly calcareous soils located in Turckheim, Ingersheim, and Sigolsheim. After the harvest and an initial fermentation in the tank with indigenous yeasts, the wine referments in the bottle and then rests on the lees for 24 months before disgorging and being released for sale, without dosage. In the glass, the wine shows a straw yellow color enhanced by an elegant perlage. On the nose, it reveals a rich and expressive aromatic profile with notes of quince and pear, toasted bread, and lemon cream, on a mineral background. On the palate, it is round, generous, and lively with a velvety and full-bodied character and a well-balanced acidic vein. The finish is long and warm and recalls notes of brioche. Try it with sushi.
