Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the heart of Alsace, Domaine Charles Sparr is the result of the union between Charles Sparr, who comes from a family of wine merchants for 12 generations, and Amélie Buecher, daughter of Alsace winemakers. Today, the estate covers just under 20 hectares of vineyards cultivated according to organic and biodynamic standards. The Riesling grapes for Sentiment come from several plots located on the outskirts of the village of Wettolsheim. Here the vines, aged between 10 and 30 years, sink their roots, in predominantly limestone soils, with granite and clay. After manual harvesting and temperature-controlled fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the finished wine ages in tanks for 12 months on the lees. In the glass, Riesling Sentiment reveals a clear color with straw-yellow highlights, and bright golden reflections. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant with notes of ripe peach, quince and citrus, acacia flowers, and hazelnuts, on a slightly smoky background. On the palate, it is fresh, dry, and crisp. It has a good fruit concentration, a medium body, and a well-defined acidic vein. It is balanced and generous with a long finish that recalls smoky notes. Try it as an aperitif with vegetable and seafood appetizers, or paired with fresh mixed salads.
