Black Canvas is a New Zealand winery founded by flying winemaker Matt Thompson and his wife Sophie Parker, Master of Wine, in 2013. The couple produces excellent, internationally acclaimed wines using artisanal methods and working with single vineyards. The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from the Anthem Vineyard in the cooler part of Central Otago. Here the vines are rooted in alluvial loess derived from shale.
