Cellar for 20 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. This is a single-vineyard Malbec, with an inky nose of black cherry, blueberry, violets, spice and chalk. It was harvested from Piedra Infinita, in the heart of Uco Valley, Argentina. More specifically, the Malbec grapes came from a rocky plot with shallow soils and lots of calcium carbonate. Zuccardi is one of Argentina’s greatest wineries, and its patriarch, José Alberto Zuccardi, will always hold a place as one of the special few that ushered Argentinian wine onto the world stage. Today, Zuccardi harvest their grapes from an impressive 200 hectares of vineyards, scattered throughout the country’s finest appellations and most extreme terroirs. The Malbecs from Piedra Infinita are some of the most carefully crafted wines in the country. Situated at the feet of the Andes, the estate is heavily influenced by the Tunuyán River and its limestone-rich sediments. Strong mineral elements seep onto the palate, alongside juicy notes of cherry and blackberry. The tannins are fine-grained yet powerful, bringing a marvellous structure to the experience. On the finish, delicate saline notes shine through the fruit. This is a reserved, elegant and powerful wine, perfect for pairing with steak, aged cheese or lasagna.
