Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant before serving. Founded in 1962 by visionary winemaker Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix was the very first winery in Margaret River. Today its best known for its top quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines which can easily hold their own to Australia’s finest examples. In total Vasse Felix has four vineyards in the region which they farm using minimal intervention methods to preserve the land for future generations. The unique terroir here is blessed with a Mediterranean climate with regular cooling influence from the nearby Indian and Southern Oceans. This creates ideal growing conditions for premium wines like this elegant Syrah which is sourced from vineyards in the south of the region. Once in the winery the fruit is fermented using wild yeasts which occur naturally in the environment. The young wine is then left to mature in French oak barrels for 11 months to add extra complexity and polish to the finished bottling. Bursting with luscious cassis, blackberry and dark cherry, this well-structured and poised red is ideal for those looking for a refined red wine with plenty of cool climate character. Enjoy now alongside earthy game dishes or cellar for a few more years if desired.
