Cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for up to an hour before serving. Per Sempre is a 100% Syrah wine, with a vibrant ruby red colour. The nose is fresh and fragrant, revealing scents of ripe hedgerow berries, cocoa, citrus, cut wood and a dash of spice. It is an excellent IGT wine, created in the Tua Rita cellar in the commune of Suvereto. Tua Rita was founded in 1984, by Rita and her late husband Virgil. The winery consists of 60 hectares of vineyards, located in the Val di Cornia, Tuscany, tucked between the rolling Colline Metallifere (translating to “metal-laden hills”) and the salty Tyrrhenian Sea. “Per Sempre” is one of Tua Rita’s limited edition wines, born from Virgil’s love of the lean Syrah grape. On the palate, it shows a pure, bright character, defined by ripe, silky tannins and vivacious acidity. It will age majestically. Look for flavours of juicy red and black fruits, liquorice, lavender and cassis with supporting notes of black pepper and smoke. It all leads into a spicy, lingering finish. The fruits spent 15-17 months ageing in new French oak barriques and a few more months ageing in the bottle before release. Consider pairing this wine with charcuterie boards, a rich meaty ragù, or a polenta dish.
