Drink it now or cellar for up to 3-5 years. No need to decant. The award-winning Thaya winery is located in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic, near the Podyjí Natural Park, in the village of Havraníky. The company, which owns 105 hectares of vineyards, produces 5 different lines of wines, mainly based on Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Grigio, Sauvignon, but also Frankovka and Svatovavřinec, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards enjoy pedoclimatic conditions particularly favorable to the production of quality wines with sunny days and cool nights and soils of clayey limestone origin with loess. The modern cellar, designed by architect Jakub Cigler, is directed by young winemaker Jakub Smrčky. The Pinot Blanc grapes are selected and harvested in the U Chlupa vineyard. Fermentation takes place in large 400-liter barrels where the wine also matures. The Pinot Blanc U Chlupa from the Thaya winery is an elegant wine with great character. In the glass, it reveals a golden, clear, and brilliant color. On the nose, its aromatic profile is fragrant and fruity with notes of golden apple and ripe pear, and delicate hints of honey and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it is fresh and well-structured, with balanced acidity and a light mineral vein. The finish is persistent and juicy. It makes a fantastic aperitif and is excellent with fresh cheeses and Chicken Caesar Salad.
