Schloss Gobelsburg is an Austrian winery originally founded as a Cistercian monastic estate in the 12th century. The company owns vineyards located on terraces around the Kamp River valley and produces excellent quality white and red wines. The Riesling grapes come from the Gaisberg vineyard in the Heiligenstein area, in the three municipalities of Kammern, Zöbing, and Strass. Some parts of the terraces are part of the company's oldest vineyards. Here, the soils are made up of a mixture of paragneisses, amphibolites, and mica schists, which guarantee the production of a wine of great complexity and aging potential. After fermentation, the wine matures for a year and a half in Austrian oak barrels. The wine has a yellow color with slightly golden tones and a refined and complex aromatic profile. It reveals a captivating bouquet of exotic and stone fruit aromas with notes of fresh ripe orange and grapefruit. On the palate, it is energetic and juicy, dense, and has a mouthwatering acidity. It shows great fruit intensity with hints of passion fruit and a long, elegant, vibrant finish with mineral hints. It is the perfect wine for Asian and fusion cuisine and goes very well with smoked fish. But it can also stay in the cellar for a couple of decades and evolve beautifully.
