Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. Located in the Austrian wine region of Kamptal, Schloss Gobelsburg has a very ancient tradition dating back to the 12th century. The winery, originally a Cistercian monastic estate, produces a wide variety of wines including whites, reds, and sweet wines while practicing sustainable agriculture. The vineyards, some of which were donated to the Cistercian monks back in 1171, extend around the Kamp River valley on soils particularly favorable for the cultivation of vines. The Gruner Veltliner grapes come from the rolling hills surrounding the town of Langenlois, where the fertile, loess-rich soils guarantee full and perfect ripening of the berries. After fermentation, the wine is aged in steel to preserve and enhance its freshness. The wine reveals a bright yellow color tending towards golden. Its aromatic profile is fresh and lively with citrus and white fruit notes and herbaceous and spicy hints. There are aromas of white pepper and green tea leaves. On the palate, it is juicy and fruity with a strong acidic streak and good liveliness. The finish is medium long and very refreshing. It is excellent with poultry and also with pork filet. It is also the ideal wine for pairing with asparagus (especially if served with bacon) and artichokes.
