Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Otronia is a modern Argentine winery, located in the far south of the country, in Patagonia. The company, which cultivates about 50 hectares of vineyards, owes its name to Lake Musters, once called Otron by the locals. Here the vines, among the southernmost in the world, are planted on a soil of lacustrine origin, with clay, fluvial, and alluvial rocks. The cold but dry climate allows for the production of healthy organic grapes thanks to slow and perfect ripening. Costas Blancas is a blend of Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Grigio, and Riesling handpicked and then fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and concrete eggs. After blending, the finished wine rests for approximately 20 months in untoasted French oak foudres and concrete tanks. This elegant white wine from Patagonia has a mineral and fresh character with a fragrant aromatic profile with notes of tropical fruits, jasmine flowers, and some honeyed hints. On the palate, it has the unctuous consistency typical of Gewurztraminer and Pinot Grigio, the zesty freshness of Riesling, and the fruity concentration of Chardonnay. It is a balanced and characterful wine with a well-integrated acidity and a long and complex finish. Open a bottle today with shellfish or raw fish, or leave it in the cellar for a few years.
