Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Serralunga d'Alba, in the province of Cuneo, Casa E. di Mirafiore was founded in 1878 by Emanuele Alberto, Count of Mirafiore and son of the first King of Italy. The company, which is now owned by Oscar Farinetti and the Baffigo family, produces the two Crus Lazzarito and Paiagallo, considered among the most prestigious in the Langa, and maintains a traditionalist approach with fermentation in cement and aging in large Slavonian oak barrels. The Barolo Lazzarito by Casa E. di Mirafiore is a high-class wine produced with Nebbiolo grapes from one of the most important vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature and the wine is then aged for 24 months in barrels and bottles before being released on the market. Its color is intense ruby with light garnet reflections. On the nose, the wine reveals an intense and broad aromatic profile with notes of wild berries, ripe plum and dried flowers, tobacco, dried mushrooms, rosemary, and cinnamon. On the palate, it is robust with dense and well-integrated tannins. It is a wine with good structure and concentration, with a long and persistent finish. It is perfect with game and red meat stews, but it can also remain in the cellar for a couple of decades.
