Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Founded in 1858, Casa E. Di Mirafiore is a historic Piedmontese winery located in Serralunga d'Alba in the province of Cuneo and recently rediscovered and acquired by Oscar Farinetti and the Baffigo family. The company, which has played an important role in the history of Barolo, adopts a traditional approach using modern technologies. Barolo Mirafiore is produced with Nebbiolo grapes selected in different vineyards facing south, south-west and west, and located at an altitude of about 300-350m a.s.l. on soils of Helvetian origin, rich in clay and calcareous marls. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, according to traditional methods. The finished wine then rests for 2 years in oak barrels, before being released on the market. The wine has an intense color with garnet red tones. On the nose, it reveals a complex and broad aromatic profile with notes of ripe red fruit, spices, such as pepper and nutmeg, and nuances of licorice. On the palate, the wine shows the firm tannins typical of Nebbiolo. It is fresh and powerful, with a long and elegant finish. It is the perfect wine for rich red meat dishes, especially if served with mushroom sauces, and aged cheeses.
