Matua Rose 2021

Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled. “Matua” is the Maori word for “head of the family”, and it’s an appropriate moniker given that this modest winery crafted New Zealand’s very first Sauvignon Blanc in 1974. Although the project began just with a tiny tin shed and two brothers, Bill and Ross Spence, the winery now enjoys a global reputation for their delicious wines made from classic international grape varieties. This refreshing and crisp wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from the Marlborough region of New Zealand which is known for its cool climate and ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir grapes. The grapes are harvested at night to preserve their freshness and then gently pressed to extract the juice. As soon as you pour out a glass you’ll notice the vibrant pink colour and enticing aromas of strawberries, raspberries, and watermelon on the nose. On the palate the wine is crisp and lively with flavors of crushed red berries and a subtle hint of citrus. The finish is clean and dry, making it an excellent choice for warm weather and outdoor gatherings or to pair with leafy salads, sushi, or spicy Asian dishes.
