Founded in the early 2000s by renowned wine expert Allen Shoup, Long Shadows is a prestigious Washington state winery producing premium wines in the Columbia Valley. Shoup, widely considered the father of the wine business in this American state, collaborates with a group of the most celebrated winemakers from the world’s top wine regions, along with resident winemaker Gilles Nicault, to create exceptional wines that have already received various awards. The Riesling grapes, from a German clone, are sourced partly from Bacchus Vineyard and partly from a site at Gamache Vineyard, where the cool climate ensures the full expression of the distinctive character of the Riesling variety. Nine Hats Riesling is a vibrant and easy-to-drink wine that reveals an exuberant and fresh aromatic profile with notes of citrus, grapefruit, pear, honeydew melon, and some hints of fragrant herbs. On the palate, it is lean and mineral, medium-bodied and concentrated. It has a crisp acidity and a long, citrusy finish. It is excellent as a fresh aperitif and also pairs perfectly with Thai food, sushi, or fish served with tropical fruit sauces.
