A renowned Washington state winery, Long Shadows was founded by Allen Shoup in the 2000s, after a long career in the wine industry. Shoup is widely considered one of the most prominent figures in the Washington state wine business, and the award-winning wines from his winery represent the best of the Columbia Valley. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from the French Creek and Boushey vineyards, located in the Yakima Valley and planted in the 80s and 90s respectively. After vinification, the wine rests for 17 months on the lees before bottling. Dance Chardonnay is an expressive and vibrant wine with a clear and bright golden color and an intense and elegant aromatic profile. On the nose, it reveals fragrant notes of apple and banana, lemon cream and toasted brioche, salted caramel, and almond paste. On the palate, it is rich and balanced, with a creamy texture and an intriguing complexity of flavors. It has a strong and well-integrated acidity and a pleasant mineral vein. The finish is long and recalls notes of tropical fruit and hazelnuts. It is a full-bodied and dynamic wine, and works deliciously with butternut risotto, scallop gratin, or Dauphinoise potatoes.
