Cellar for up to 4 years. Serve chilled. The Livio Felluga estate is blessed with both a remarkable history and incredible wines. The family has been making wine for five generations, first in Istria and then after the turmoil of the First World War in nearby Friuli in Italy. Livio Felluga, whose name the estate bears, moved to the region in the 1930s only to be dragged away when he was called up and drafted into the army in the Second World War. It wasn’t until the 1950s that Livio was able to return to his dreams of making wine and purchased the first few acres of the estate. Today the family work around 135 hectares of hillside vineyards which produce sensational fresh and perfumed white wines like this Pinot Grigio. Conditions on the hills are ideal for Pinot Grigio since the cooler nights help to preserve acidity in the grapes and create delicate aromatics in the finished wine. To showcase the pure character of the Pinot Grigio the family ferments the grapes in stainless steel tanks and then ages the wine on the lees for six months to give a rounded texture and additional complexity. The nose is led by succulent aromas of melon, ripe pear and grapefruit while the palate offers a vibrant acidity, light body and rich brioche and honey flavours. There are also subtle hints of minerality which make this an excellent match for oysters.
