Enjoy now, or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. La Spinetta means “Top of the Hill”, and refers to the parcel of land that Giuseppe Rivetti purchased in 1977, kickstarting the Rivetti family’s journey into wine production. The winery is located in Castagnole Lanze, a scenic sub-region centred around a village in the province of Asti. La Spinetta began by producing Moscato, one of Asti’s most successful grapes, but they quickly expanded into other varietals. Timorasso is not widely known outside of Italy, but La Spinetta has created a delectable rendition of the native Piedmont grape. This is a perfect wine for those who want to try something new, delicious, and distinctly Italian. A beautiful yellow gold in the glass, this Timorasso shows a nose of yellow fruits, cedar and petroleum, wrapped in a cloak of minerality. It’s a dry wine, showing a robust structure on the palate while retaining a soft and comforting mouthfeel. Harmonious fruity flavours of grapefruit and ripe peach reveal themselves, along with woody, hedgerow notes of hawthorn and hazelnut. With its strong acidity, it has good potential for ageing, which will reveal more prominent tertiary notes of minerality and kerosene. Consider pairing it with fish soups, sweet or savoury soufflés, or grilled fish. Serve slightly chilled, at around 12°C.
