Cellar for up to 3 years. Serve chilled. Today La Spinetta is regarded as one of Piedmont’s most exciting producers thanks to the hard work and visionary foresight of Giuseppe Rivetti and his son Giorgio. Giuseppe founded the winery in 1977 in the heart of the Moscato d’Asti appellation and soon achieved recognition for producing this first ever single vineyard Moscato. The family went on to produce a series of top quality red wines, helping to put the region on the map for serious, quality wines which really capture the character of the local terroir. This stunning Moscato has been made on the estate since 1978 and begins life in the family’s Bricco Quaglia vineyard which sits at 300 metres above sea level on sandy and calcareous soils. The vineyard is farmed sustainably without the use of chemical herbicides or pesticides to ensure the fruit is of top quality. The grapes are then harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented at a low temperature for a month in accordance with the traditional Moscato d’Asti winemaking process. This slow fermentation and the bottling under pressure creates a subtle spritz in the wine. Before bottling the fermentation halted by chilling the wine which leaves the wine with a natural sweetness and lower alcohol than other wines. The result is a perfectly balanced Moscato which combines sweetness with a refreshing acidity and generous orchard fruit, citrus and floral notes.
