La Spinetta Biancospino Moscato 2024

Enjoy it now, or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. In 1977, Giuseppe Rivetti purchased a plot of land in Castagnole Lanze, in the middle of the abundant wine-growing province of Asti. The site is called La Spinetta, meaning “The Top of the Hill”, and has been the heart and soul of the winery ever since. La Spinetta’s wines have received countless awards and 90+ ratings over the years, making them one of the most consistent producers in Piedmont. They began their journey by growing Moscato, a grape that thrives in the fresh terroir of Castagnole Lanze. From these initial vintages, their quality and popularity were evident, and La Spinetta began to expand into a variety of native Piedmont grapes. This Moscato is a nod to their origins, a charming example of a Moscato d’Asti dessert wine. The key word with Biancospino is delicate. It takes its name from the elderflower plant, which shows itself on the gentle nose, along with hints of citrus and white flowers. At 5.5%, it is light in alcohol and extremely drinkable. It has a subtle fizz in the mouth and envelopes the tongue in flavours of lime, orange peel, geranium and a pleasant mineral edge. While sipping your second glass, look for notes of peach, pear and honey. Biancospino is an excellent pairing for desserts, such as creamy chocolate cake, or something nutty.
