Drink now or hold for a few years. Decanting is optional, it may benefit from breathing for 30 minutes before serving. Nestled in the Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, La Crema began life as “La Crema Viñera”, in 1979. The winery originally sourced its grapes from the valley and coastal Sonoma areas, but as the business grew, so did its selection of vineyards. Nowadays, La Crema’s wines are made of premium grapes from cool-climate appellations all across California and Oregon. In 1993, the winery was acquired by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke, the husband and wife duo behind Jackson Family Wines. They began to cultivate the delicate Pinot Noir, an under-utilised grape in California at the time. The grape and the winery formed a symbiotic relationship, driving each other to tremendous success in the region. Sonoma Coast is La Crema’s flagship wine, crafted from 100% Pinot Noir. It features pungent aromas of dark fruit on the nose, blackberry and cherry mingle with warm notes of tobacco and leather. Grapes are sourced exclusively from the Sonoma Coast AVA, a cool terroir defined by the mighty Pacific Ocean. Red forest fruits dominate the palate of this dry red wine, scored by subtle hints of cocoa and exotic spices. It will be a perfect partner for salty meats and sweet treats, such as stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, or glazed ham.
