Ktima Gerovassiliou Museum Collection White 2022

Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. This complex dry white from Ktima Gerovassilou shines with a bright golden colour in the glass. It is a harmonious blend of five white varieties: the native Malagousia and Assyrtiko, along with the French grapes Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. On the nose, it opens with rich notes of citrus peel, pineapple, melon, and passion fruit, interwoven with delicate hints of honeysuckle, butter, and toasted nuts. Vangelis Gerovassiliou, a renowned oenologist with significant experience in historic Greek wineries, returned to his family's vineyards in 1981 to transform and modernise them. The estate, now spanning 48 hectares in Epanomi, features indigenous Greek varieties like Malagousia, Assyrtiko, Limnio, Mavroudi, and Mavrotragano, as well as international grapes. The Museum Collection White is a result of Gerovassiliou's careful selection of oak barrels and thorough taste tests, to ensure a highly collectable wine with incredible balance. It is lively and full-bodied on the palate, with a slightly viscous and oily profile that you can roll around the mouth. High levels of acidity provide a refreshing backbone, while the aromatic aftertaste lingers for a while on the tongue. You can discover notes of exotic and citrus fruits, complemented by buttery and nutty undertones. This white wine is an excellent partner for poultry, pork, or tender white fish.
