Ktima Gerovassiliou White 2024

Drink it now. No need to decant. After studying agriculture and viticulture, and experience as an oenologist in some historic wineries in Greece, Vangelis Gerovassiliou returned to the family vineyards in 1981, renovating them and replanting Greek and international vines. Today the property, which extends over 48 hectares, includes the production of native vines such as Assyrtiko, Malagousia, Limnio, Mavroudi, Mavrotragano, and some international grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Syrah, Grenache, and Merlot. Ktima Gerovassiliou White is an innovative blend of two indigenous grape varieties, Malagousia and Assyrtiko. After the harvest, the grapes are left to macerate with the skin, at low temperatures, for a few hours. Then follows the alcoholic fermentation which takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. In the glass, the wine has a beautiful yellow color with greenish hues. The nose is fragrant with aromas of exotic and citrus fruit, notes of green pepper, and delicate floral scents. On the palate, the wine shows all its elegant character. It is round, lively, and with a pleasant and refreshing finish that recalls lemon notes. Serve it chilled at 8-10°C and enjoy it in its youth. Try it with traditional Greek seafood dishes, and in general with fish and shellfish, summer salads, and vegetarian tarts. It also makes an excellent aperitif.
