Cellar for 10 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. The Treo Winemaker’s Blend begins with a beautiful nose of crisp red fruits - pomegranate, cherry and vanilla, with hints of balsamic. It contains approximately 35% Petite Sirah, 33% Zinfandel and 20% Syrah, with smaller portions of Cabernet, Merlot and Carignan - a unique New World blend, that would only be possible in the sunny climate of California. The Hess Collection Winery was founded in 1978 by Donald Hess, a Swiss entrepreneur who first came to California in search of a source for his mineral water business. Upon tasting the local wines, he began to search for vineyards instead, settling on a special location on Mount Veeder. The Hess Select range is a perfect balance of affordability and undeniable quality, carrying on the legacy of Donald Hess. On the palate, this red blend combines an intense explosion of fruits with a subtle earthy side. The tannins are fine and drying but are balanced out with juicy acidity and perceptibly sweet cherry notes. Look for flavours of blueberry, blackberry and tart plum, with background notes of black pepper and liquorice. It’s a brilliant wine for pairing with roasted vegetables, three-bean chilli, or a prime rib.
