Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years. Serve chilled. Jeffrey Grosset fell in love with wine aged 15 when his father brought home a bottle to share with his family. He then went on to study Enology and worked at wineries in Germany and Australia before deciding to found his own winery in the Clare Valley in 1981. The current winery sits on the site of an old milk depot and specializes in top quality Riesling wines which are bottled under screwcap to preserve the aromatics and freshness. Springvale is a prized 6 hectare vineyard which is farmed both organically and biodynamically. The vines are planted over limestone soils with the roots embedded in deep slate, creating a wine of great intensity and minerality. The fruit is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks on the lees for a short period before bottling which adds additional complexity and polish to the final cuvee. Subtle hints of lime flower, spring herbs and lavender immediately jump out of the glass followed by deeper undertones of green apple and pear. The first sip reveals a mouthwatering acidity, feather-light body, and lingering zingy citrus notes which make this a fantastic aperitif or match for sushi and fresh seafood.
