Cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for up to 2 hours before serving. Vigna del Sorbo is a beautiful dark ruby colour in the glass, with a thick nose of sour red cherries and redcurrants. After some time breathing, further details of sage, liquorice and wet earth will reveal themselves. This is a 100% Sangiovese wine, harvested and crafted within the Panzano region of Chianti, Tuscany. The Fontodi domain spans over 170 hectares in the region of Chianti and has been owned by the Manetti family since 1968. They are natives of the region, who for centuries have been involved in producing another type of famous Tuscan red: terracotta. The family also have deep respect for the land and the winery is certified organic with minimal outside intervention in the vineyards. This Chianti Classico is packed with rich flavours of cherries, forest berries and savoury notes of leather. Chewy tannins and a coursing river of acidity form an excellent structure, meaning this wine has the potential to age for a long time in the bottle. The tail end of each sip will reveal careful hints of sandalwood and baking spice. It is an excellent version of Chianti Classico, for lovers of rustic Italian reds. Try pairing this wine with tomato-rich pasta dishes, game or aged cheeses.
