Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 20 years. Decant for an hour or more before serving. Filetta di Lamole is a deep cut from the Chianti Classico region of Tuscany, named for the town of Lamole. It is made of 100% Sangiovese, and is bursting with scents of ripe red fruit, dried herbs, tobacco smoke, rose petals, and liquorice. It is medium to full-bodied, and exhibits a beautiful ruby red colour in the glass. Fontodi was founded in 1968, in the Panzano sub-region of Chianti. It is a family winery, owned and operated by the Manetti family. Before transitioning into winemaking, the family were famed for another Chianti tradition – the art of making terracotta tiles. Their 130-hectare domain is now entirely organic and chemical-free, making their wines a pure representation of Chianti. This wine envelopes the mouth in layers of concentrated red fruit and herbs. Look for notes of sour black cherry, cranberry, spice, and Mediterranean herbs. The finish is complex too, with mineral hints of crushed stone. It was aged for 2 years in French oak barrels before release. This Chianti Classico is a great choice for pairing with herby roasted vegetables, beef, or a cheese board.
