Drink now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant before serving. Renowned Tuscan winery Fattoria Le Pupille is best known for their popular Supertuscan wine named Saffredi. Its stellar reputation is owed to Elisabetta Geppetti who inherited the property at the age of just 20 from her family in the mid-1980s. Thanks to her vision and foresight, she succeeded in transforming the property from a regular, mediocre winery into one of the region’s leading lights, putting Morellino di Scansano on the map for top quality Supertuscan wines. The estate’s vineyards sit at an elevation of 300 metres above sea level, conditions that help to preserve freshness and aromatics in the wines thanks to the cooler nights and warm summer days. The property is now in the capable hands of Elisabetta’s daughter, Clara, who is putting her own mark on the brand with new innovations and experiments. Poggio Valente is a magnificent introduction to the Le Pupille style. This 100% Sangiovese cuvee is a single vineyard wine grown on hilly land rich in clay, sandstone and sand. The conditions here are ideal for premium winemaking, helping to craft an elegant, balanced wine with all the natural beauty of the Sangiovese grape. Expect plenty of bright red cherry and hints of game, earth, and forest floor over a medium body, smooth tannins, and a long, lingering finish.
