Drink now or cellar for up to 30 years. Decant for an hour before serving. A true legend in the tight-knit Piedmontese winemaking community, Domenico Clerico sadly passed away in 2017. He was known for his exceptional Barolo wines which were highly sought after by wine enthusiasts around the world. Today his legacy lives on through the wines produced by his estate which continue to receive critical acclaim. The grapes for this wine are carefully selected from the estate's oldest vines, which are between 45 and 55 years old. They are hand-harvested and undergo a long maceration period to extract the maximum flavor and tannins. The young wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 24 months followed by a further 12 months of bottle aging. This stunning cuvee is an excellent example of a traditional Barolo with its bold flavors, powerful structure, and ability to age gracefully for decades. Expect a deep ruby red color in the glass with intense aromas of red and black fruits, spices, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate it is full-bodied and well-structured with firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. Pairs well with rich, hearty dishes such as roasted meats, stews, and aged cheeses.
