Cellar for 10 years or more. Decant for up to an hour before serving. El Terroir from Domaines Lupier is a quintessential Spanish wine, crafted from 100% Garnacha. It is impressively fresh and youthful, bursting with scents of red cherry, strawberry, and redcurrant, with harmonious hints of rosemary, thyme, and fennel. The fruits were sourced from the region of Navarra, bordering the Basque Country in the north of Spain. Domaines Lupier spans 27 Garnacha dominated vineyards in all, and was recently acquired by the esteemed Spanish winemaker Raúl Pérez, of Ultreia and Castro Ventosa fame. Grapes from about 12 of those vineyards constitute El Terroir, planted on clay-limestone soils and with an average vine age of 75 years, imparting depth and concentration to each bottle. It is intense and vibrant on the palate, but it is also extremely well structured, balancing a wealth of juicy fruits with dry, velvety tannins. Look for notes of young, tart plum and Kirsch cherry liqueur, alongside herbal undergrowth and refreshing hints of wild mint. It was aged in French oak for approximately 14 months before release. The finish is long and gripping. El Terroir is an excellent, food-friendly wine for pairing with a variety of tapas, pork, or a tomato-rich bean stew.
