Drink it now or cellar for 8 years. No need to decant it but best to open it half an hour before service. Raul Perez is a world-renowned winemaker and producer, known by the nickname "Picasso of Spanish wine". His production ranges from Bierzo to the Rias Baixas, passing through Ribeira Sacra and Monterrei, and includes over 30 of his own wines and various collaborations with other famous wineries such as Castro Ventosa and Estefania Tilenus. Perez focuses his work on some of the most interesting Spanish varieties, such as Mencía, Godello, and Albariño, and follows attentively all the work done in the vineyard to make his excellent wines. Las Gundinas is a red produced with 100% Mencia grapes, selected and harvested from a vineyard located on a particularly steep slope facing west. The grapes ferment in wood with a maceration of about 50 days. The finished wine is then aged in wood. The wine has a clear color with ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is fruity and elegant with notes of wild berries and ripe plums. On the palate, it reveals an excellent concentration of fruit. It is juicy and intense with soft and well-integrated tannins. It is an elegant, full-bodied, and well-balanced wine that goes very well with red meat dishes, lamb, and aged cheeses.
