Domaine Vincent Pinard Le Chateau Sancerre 2020

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Located a short distance from Sancerre, in the village of Bué, Domaine Vincent Pinard is now managed by Florent and Clément Pinard who cultivate the approximately 15 hectares of their vineyards with an organic and minimal intervention approach respecting the full expression of the terroir. The Sancerre Le Chateau cuvée has been produced since 2014 with Sauvignon Blanc grapes from a vineyard planted about 50 years ago on the heights of Chêne Marchand at an altitude of 250 meters, on Kimmeridgian limestone soils. After vinification, the wine is aged in demi-muid, without passage in new wood, to guarantee the freshness and pure expression of the fruit. This splendid Sancerre is a generous and ample wine with a brilliant color, pale golden tones and greenish reflections. On the nose, it reveals a complex and mature aromatic profile with notes of Reinette apple, yellow plum and pineapple, candied lemon, and apricot jam, followed by yellow flowers and fine herbs. On the palate it is rich and powerful, fruity and juicy. It has a marked acidity and a long and persistent finish that recalls mineral notes. It reveals an extraordinary capacity for aging, but can already be enjoyed with fish dishes, preferably lobster or monkfish.
