Cellar for up to 11 years. No need to decant before serving. Records show the Dugat family have been making wine in Gevrey-Chambertin since at least 1645. Today their namesake domaine is in the capable hands of 12th and 13th generation vintners Bernard Dugat-Py and his son Loic. Over the past decade the domaine has become one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s benchmark producers thanks to the dedication and talent of Bernard who relentlessly pursues quality and excellence in all he does. In 2003 the domaine fully converted to organic agriculture and Bernard and Loic aim to use horse power to work their 13 hectares of vineyards to minimise the environmental impact and avoid damaging the soils. The domaine is blessed with an abundance of old vines which have an average age of 70, but in some cases are over 100 years old. Their Cuvee Halinard is a stylish red Burgundy crafted from the family’s 25-75 year old vines which are planted on exceptional clay-limestone soils. The young wine is aged in small oak barrels for 15-18 months to fully integrate the tannins and add extra complexity to the finished wine. The result is a robust and full-flavoured wine that is bursting with intense red fruit and a well-defined structure that will respond gracefully to additional cellar ageing.
