Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in Monthelie, on a hill at about 365 meters above sea level overlooking the green valleys of Auxey-Duresses and Meursault, Domaine Changarnier is an ancient family-run Burgundian estate dating back to 1720. Taken over in 2004 by the Changarnier brothers Claude and Antoine, today the estate extends over about 5 hectares of vineyards cultivated according to the standards of organic farming in full respect of nature and terroir. The Pinot Noir grapes are selected and harvested by hand from a plot planted in 1979 in the Premier Cru Champs Fulliot, the largest in the appellation, on red clay and marl soil with a rocky subsoil, with an east/southeast exposure, on the border between the Meursault and Volnay appellations. After vinification, the wine rests in oak barrels. Monthelie Premier Cru Champs Fulliot is an elegant and fragrant wine that reveals aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, and violet on the nose, followed by hints of vanilla and delicate spices. On the palate, it has a good structure and a firm and well-integrated tannic backbone. It is fruity, and flavorful with a long finish that recalls notes of vanilla. It is a classy wine with an excellent quality/price ratio that can age for a few years in the cellar but is ready to be enjoyed immediately with a roast lamb.
