Drink now or cellar for up to 12 years. Decant 1 hour before serving. This magnificent Bordeaux-style red showcases the intensity and complexity of Californian Cabernet Sauvignon when grown in an exceptional terroir. On the nose there are rich notes of graphite, cocoa, and crushed blackcurrants and dark cherries. The first sip reveals a generous full body, firm structure and ripe dark berry flavours which linger long on the tongue. Founded by brothers Georges and Daniel Daou, DAOU is the result of a lengthy search for the perfect site in the Napa Valley on which to start an ambitious new winery. The duo searched high and low for the ideal terroir to found their project in the Napa Valley before finally hitting on this Paso Robles property which had the prized soil conditions and climate they were seeking. Described as “a jewel of ecological elements” by legendary Californian winemaker André Tchelistcheff, the 212 acre estate is located in the Adelaida District of Paso Robles. This area offers a unique combination of Napa-like climatic conditions and limestone-rich soils similar to those found in many of France’s top vineyards. These exceptional conditions allow the Daou brothers to create stunning Bordeaux blends combining Old World elegance with a touch of New World vibrancy and innovation.
