Drink it now or cellar for up to 12 years. No need to decant but best to open it half an hour before service. Founded in 2008 by Fernando Mora MW and winemaker Mario López, Bodegas Frontonio is located in Valdejalón, in Aragon, Spain. The name is inspired by San Frontonio, patron saint of the municipality of Épila. According to legend, Frontonio was beheaded and his head thrown into the Ebro River in Zaragoza, only to be found later upstream. Its history reflects the nonconformist philosophy of this company which makes excellent artisanal wines, produced with total respect for the environment. Supersonico is a Garnacha-based wine produced with minimal additions of Macabeo. The grapes come from vineyards facing north and located at over 1000 meters above sea level. After the harvest, fermentation occurs spontaneously in oak vats and the finished wine then rests in wooden vats for 1 year, before bottling. In the glass, the wine reveals a clear color with intense red tones and a broad and fragrant aromatic profile, with notes of blackcurrant and Mediterranean herbs, on a mineral background. On the palate, it is elegant and round with a medium body and a refreshing acidity that extends into the long finish. It is excellent with grilled meat, pasta with veal ragù, and lamb chops with herbs.
