Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. The Spanish winery Bodegas Frontonio, located in the Aragon region, is the project of Fernando Mora MW and Mario López, started in 2008. The company, which manages about 50 hectares of organically grown vineyards, grows native grape varieties to produce their elegant wines, widely appreciated by critics and the public. Microcósmico Macabeo is an artisanal white wine made with Macabeo grapes from a 10-hectare vineyard, located at about 500 meters above sea level in the municipality of Épila. The vines, over 35 years old, sink their roots into deep calcareous-clayey soils, with the presence of pebbles. After manual harvesting and fermentation in cement tanks at a controlled temperature, 10% of the finished wine is aged in used oak barrels, while the rest remains in the tanks on its lees. In the glass, this vibrant wine reveals a bright color with straw yellow tones and greenish reflections. On the nose, it surprises with intense notes of citrus and wildflowers. On the palate, it is fresh and energetic, light and juicy, with a brisk and lively acidic vein. The finish is long and citrusy. It is the ideal wine as an aperitif and can be deliciously paired with seafood salads and raw fish.
