Cellar for up to 10 years. Serve chilled. Sandra Tavares da Silva and Jorge Serodio Borges have made wine for some of Portugal’s most respected wineries including Niepoort and Vale Dona Maria. In 2001 the couple decided to pursue their dream of making their very own wines and founded Wine & Soul after buying an old port lodge. In 2003 they acquired their first vineyard in the Pinhão Valley which is planted with exceptional 76 year old vines and features more than 35 local grape varieties. This vibrant white wine is a field blend made from the Vosinho, Rabigato, Codega do Larinho, and Gouveio varieties. The fruit is all sourced from 50 year old vines planted in the couple’s Murça vineyard. The schist soils, 500 metres of altitude, and north-facing slope of the vineyard offer ideal conditions for producing top quality white wines, preserving plenty of aromatics and freshness in the fruit. Once in the winery the grapes are pressed and the must is then fermented in new Frenck oak barrels where it is aged for seven months on the lees. Bursting with bright grapefruit, lemon zest and mineral aromas, this medium bodied white has a smooth texture and long finish seasoned with hints of toast, roasted nuts and brioche from the oak fermentation and ageing.
