Join me on an easy stroll around the gorgeous Renaissance city of Klagenfurt, best-known for its stately homes’ beautiful inner courtyards, and the dragon-shaped Lindwurm Monument, where our walk begins. On this walking tour, we’ll visit St Egyd Church’s tower, from where its keeper guarded the city. We’ll browse the wares of the daily Benediktiner Market, where you’ll find Carinthian delicacies and tasty treats from neighbouring Italy and Slovenia. We’ll meet the fish seller who turned to stone, and uncover the legends behind the Lindwurm and the Wörtherseemandl. I’ll introduce you to colourful characters like Bernhard of Spanheim, the city’s founder, Emperor Maria Theresia, the mother of Austria, and famous Klagenfurt artist, Kiki Kogelnik. Along the way, I’ll point out a few spots to grab a bite and enjoy local specialties like, goulash, washed down with a glass of beer. So, join me for this fascinating dive into what the capital of Carinthia has to offer.
