Thaya Apri Chardonnay 2019

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before the service. Considered one of the most promising wineries in the Czech Republic, Thaya produces high-quality white and red wines. The grapes are grown in the company vineyards which extend over approximately 105 hectares located in various villages, near the Podyjí National Park, in the South Moravia region. Here the climatic and soil conditions are particularly favorable for quality viticulture and in fact, the vine has been present since the times of the ancient Romans. The Apri range of wines is the company's most prestigious. The label features a wild boar, a symbol of strength and wild character. The Chardonnay grapes come from the company's Hnanice and U Chlupa vineyards. Fermentation takes place in 400-liter oak barrels, where the wine is then refined. Chardonnay Apri is a wine with a warm and intense color with golden tones and straw yellow reflections. On the nose, it reveals a complex and mature aromatic profile with notes of tropical fruit and stone fruit, dried orange peel and candied pineapple, white flowers, and light hints of sweet spices. On the palate, it is juicy and elegant with perfectly balanced acidity and a very pleasant mineral note. The finish is persistent with light nuances of vanilla. Try it with roasted chicken, scallop risotto, or roast veal with citrus sauce.
