During the Clone Wars the Jedi Order deployed the starfighter in large numbers. A typical feature of this Delta-7B-starfighter is use of the astromech droid (in Anakin's case R2-D2) and the relatively light armament (the Jedi are confident in their own skills of conflict avoidance). This extremely light, short starfighter is well protected against bombardment with its partly concealed laser cannons.
