Debut album from the latest "new Nina Simone," a Birmingham Conservatoire graduate who came in fourth in the BBC's Sound of 2013 poll. While her undeniable vocal chops certainly do recall the First Lady of R&B, her "gospeldelia" sound borrows heavily from the L.A. school of instrumental hip-hop (e.g. Flying Lotus), and also at times recalls the retro-soul of Duffy or Adele. Includes the singles "She" and "Green Garden."
