The Worldâs first multi-function light meter than can be programmed to match the sensitivity of digital camera sensors or types of film for perfect exposure control. The L-758D measures light beyond the capabilities of your camera to ensure repeatable, accurate and consistent measurements. In addition, the dynamic range of a particular digital camera or film can be stored, recalled and displayed. Using the USB transfer cable and the Sekonic Data Transfer Software, a digital camera or filmâs exposure profile can be uploaded from a computer to the L-758D. Up to three different digital camera or film exposure profiles can be saved and quickly retrieved with a touch of a button. With its Pre-Exposure warning indicators and adjustable mid-tone settings, the L-758D puts the power of digital exposure control in the palm of your hands.General FeaturesExposure ProfilingProgrammable to respond to light exactly like your digital camera or type of film. Profiles can be created for Reflected, Ambient, Incident and Flash modes. Exposure profiles can be acquired through a four-step exposure test using the optional Sekonic test target, or pre-tested exposure profiles can be downloaded from the Sekonic web site.Pre-Exposure WarningThe dynamic range of a digital camera sensor or type of film can be stored, recalled and displayed on the meterâs LCD screen. This is a valuable feature that reveals the dynamic range limitation of a digital camera or type of film before capturing the image. Blinking pre-exposure warning indicators, displayed above the analogue scale, alert the photographer when a measured highlight or shadow has met or exceeded the dynamic range. Clipping points (user defined dynamic range limits) add further control and customization for added exposure control.Mid-Tone AdjustmentThe Mid-Tone button acts as an exposure shift, moving the highlight or shadow within the dynamic range of the digital camera or type of film. Once the desired highlight or shadow setting is selected, the pre-exposure blinking alert icon stops flash, indicating that the value is within the recordable range.Working together (Incident and Reflected modes)Measured values can be memorized and retained in both reflected and incident measuring modes. For example: A incident reading can be retained and displayed as a diffused mid-tone on the analogy scale (f-stop or EV scale), at the same time as reflected spot reading of a highlight or shadow can be measured and memorized. The result is a Highlight, Mid-Tone and Shadow measurement displayed on the meterâs analogue scale.Data Transfer SoftwareCompatible with both Windows® and Macintosh® computers, the Sekonic Data Transfer Software automatically calculates the entered test data from a digital camera and creates an exposure profile. These profiles contain exposure characteristics for Flash, Ambient, Incident and Reflected exposure modes from ISO 3 to ISO 8000. In addition, the dynamic range at all ISOs are calculate
