San Francisco: From the Palace of Fine Arts to Golden Gate Bridge

San Francisco is known for its foggy summers and steep hills. It’s even better known for landmarks like Alcatraz Island and one of the most iconic structures in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge. On this walking tour, you’ll see the city through the eyes and memories of a proud local. The tour starts in the gardens of San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts, with its beautifully manicured grounds. You’ll see the amazing architecture of its lagoon-side rotunda and enjoy a ton of spots to take that perfect selfie. After leaving the Palace area, we’ll cross Marina Boulevard and get our first glimpse at the Golden Gate Bridge. On a path alongside Crissy Field East Beach, I’ll tell you about the area known as the Presidio. You’ll see the new Presidio Tunnel Tops (so named for its quirky location beside an active highway), as you make your way towards the Golden Gate Postcard Viewpoint. The tour ends after a climb up the stairs to the Golden Gate Bridge, the most famous bridge in the United States. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to: • See the area that was transformed from a military base dumpsite into the vibrant Crissy Field Marsh • Take in a view of Alcatraz Island from the Golden Gate Promenade • Find out the best place to watch the Blue Angels, the flight demonstration squadron of the United States Navy, at Veterans Overlook • Spot Sea Lions at play in Torpedo Wharf • Take a snap of the Fort Point National Historic Site, built in 1853 to protect the San Francisco Bay, though it never fired its cannons in anger So, come along for a memorable walk in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
