Royal Plaza Montreux Hotel

Royal Plaza Montreux Hotel is the perfect retreat for both leisure and business throughout the year. The history of the Royal Plaza Montreux dates back to the first years of tourism in Montreux, towards 1835. Then, it was known as the Pension Richelieu and among its most famous guests were Victor Hugo and Tchaïkovski. In 1894, the hotel was modernised in order to keep up with the expansion of tourism and changed its name to the Hotel Continental. Towards the end of the 1970’s a Greek ship-owner bought the property and built a new modern and luxurious Hyatt Continental which opened in 1982. Following the departure of the Hyatt group in 1992, the hotel changed hands and was renamed the Royal Plaza. It has recently undergone a complete renovation and today counts among the jewels of the Swiss hotels.
