Drink now or cellar for up to 13 years. Decant 1 hour before serving. Inspired by a vision of making ageworthy, serious Napa Valley wines at excellent prices, winemaker Mark Albrecht founded Roots Run Deep in the 2000s. To fund his new project he even sold his house and sought financial support from friends and family who believed in his winemaking talent and passion. Over the past two decades the brand has blossomed, winning over many loyal customers across the United States and beyond for his refreshing take on the Napa Valley. Mark’s Hypothesis Cabernet is made in very small quantities using fruit from one of Napa’s finest vineyards, the Money Road Vineyard in Oakville. He adds a tiny amount of Pritchard Hill Malbec and Merlot to the cuvee and ages the young wine in French oak barrels for 24 months before bottling. Muscular and incredibly concentrated, this is a classic style Napa Cabernet with opulent dark fruit character on the nose along with hints of woodsmoke and spice from the barrel ageing. The full body, firm tannins and well-built structure make it a great contender for extended cellaring, although it can also be enjoyed now paired with hearty meat or game dishes like steak, barbecued ribs, or even venison.
