Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Casa Pirque was created by the union of the Menéndez Ross and Catena Zapata families initially to handle the importation of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), Antinori, Opus One, Royal Tokaji, Vega Sicilia and the Catena family-owned wineries. Today the company has expanded its portfolio and also produces wines in Mendoza and Patagonia, with Ribera del Cuarzo being it’s most signature property there. Ribera del Cuarzo Especial Malbec is an elegant wine made from Malbec grapes from 5 ha Araucana vineyard. The vines rest on Calcareous soil, after manual harvesting, cold maceration for two days, and fermentation, the finished wine rests in barrels of one or two passages for nine months, and then for a further 12 months in the bottle. The result is a characterful and distinctive wine that reflects all the uniqueness of its terroir of origin. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense color of dark red tones with purple reflections. On the nose, it opens with notes of ripe red fruits followed by aromas of wild herbs and toasted wood. On the palate, it is smooth, full-bodied, and soft with velvety tannins and a fresh acidic vein that balances the taste. The finish is long and recalls delicate woody notes. Excellent with beef fillet and steak.
