Drink it now or cellar for up to 20 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Reyneke Winery is a family business owned by Johan Reyneke, and located in Stellenbosch, in the South African district of Cape Winelands. The company, which covers 40 hectares of vineyards, has been producing organic wines since 1998 and has switched to a biodynamic regime since 2004. In the vineyard, the use of chemical substances is zero and in the cellar, only indigenous yeasts are used. The practices in the cellar are led by the famous winemaker Rudiger Gretschel. The company also places particular attention on social issues. In fact, part of the revenues finance educational and housing projects for the families of the company's workers. This South African red wine is made from organically grown Syrah grapes. Fermentation occurs spontaneously at a controlled temperature. Vinification is followed by aging in oak for 20 months. The wine reveals a dense color with crimson-red tones. Its aromatic profile is intense with notes of blackberries and plums, hints of chocolate and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry and balanced, powerful and deep. It has great fruit concentration, soft tannins and a long finish that recalls hints of dark fruit. It is the ideal wine with lamb and duck, especially if served with fruit sauces.
